happy 5 months, little guy!

My big man is 5 months old today!

And he brings so much joy to our family! He rolls over, laughs, scoots around on his tummy, tries to sit up, LOVES to eat, and is dying to crawl to be able to keep up with sissy! We love you, Lucas!

If you do, you probably know him as 1) a jokester 2)a helpful neighbor and friend 3) a busy student. Let’s be honest—probably #1. Well around here, he’s all those things. But he’s also Daddy. And a very good one at that. He’s the type of Daddy who’s not afraid to take the kids to the doctor or zoo by himself. The kind that gets home from work and doesn’t even change before swooping up the kids and taking them on walks or to the park. The kind that reads them goodnight stories and sings with them and tucks them into bed. He’s the best Daddy ever. And he had a birthday yesterday!

Lex helped me with the cake. After all, it was a trial for her birthday cake!

In my mind, she’s saying, “Why did we light the candles, just to blow them out?!” I love watching her experience things (she’s seen candles before, but not at quite this age where she’s beginning to understand).

She asked for cake for breakfast this morning. I told her not right now. She responded with, “Yeah, maybe tomorrow.” Love her.

lazy days of summer

We are basking in the slow, lazy days of summer. Pool time, bubbles, nature walks, splashing in puddles, and lots of playing! We’ve enjoyed spending so much time together, especially on these past rainy days where we can snuggle up on the couch and read or play ball inside the house!

These next few are the most precious to me. They were not posed or planned. I promise you this because my darling eldest is 1) still in her pjs and 2) wearing a “pretty” that obviously does not match! I was taking the above pictures of Lucas and she just joined him on the floor. The love and bond between them already is amazing!
